I cannot hardly believe that October is almost over.  With that being said, please make sure that your child is dressing appropriately for the weather.  The weather is very unpredictable this time of the year.  Please make sure they are wearing a hat and have mittens with them for recess time.  When it is cold out (above zero) they will be outside playing.  They will not be able to stay inside if they do not have a coat with them.

There is no school this Thursday and Friday!  In reading we are continuing with Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.  Math we are finishing up with Geometry and finding area and perimeter of triangles. parallelograms, and complex figures.  I know the kids are ready to move on.  Have a wonderful 2 days off!

Thank you so much to all the parents who came to conferences the past 2 days.  It is always great to see the parents and keep you informed of your child’s progress.  Now that we have finished we need to focus on finishing the first trimester with a bang.  Keep up the great work and enjoy your 3 day weekend.

WOW!  Where has the month of September gone?! I am really excited about how hard the kids have been working the first month of the school year.  Unfortunately, the Packers are nto working as hard.  This week the kids are finishing up with their webquests on the 1930′s.  Along with the webquest we will be continuing with Bud, Not Buddy.  the reaction from the kids about this story has been great.  As one student put it, “This is the best book we have read!”  I knew the kids would love this book!  For Math we have our first test of the year on Friday.  Please remind the kids to keep looking over thier notes and to not wait until the last night to study.  Stay warm this week. :)

Week 2 in E111

Posted by: | September 11, 2008 | No Comment |

The 2nd week of school has really gone by quickly.  The kids are starting to get back into the swing of things and really are felling more and more comfortable with each other.  So far this year we have really been working hard on incorporating our classroom blog with the story Bud, Not Buddy.  There have been some glitches along the way so hopefully everything should be moving along more quickly by October 1st.  We have also started our Podcasts.  The students will be creating Podcasts about Sparta and then they will be entering their Podcast into the state competition in January.  2 students-Leah J and Mikayla have also been selected to produce and narrate a video of our school which will be posted on our school website.  Math has been really challenging so far this year.  We are working on writing equations for comparison word problems.  Math For Today has been going very well, but we need to remember to keep up with the daily assignments.  Remember to have it signed on Thursday nights so the students can get their extra credit.  Thank you for all your patientce so far this year with technolgy glitches.  Have a great weekend!

I hope each and every student has had a wonderful summer.  I cannot hardly believe how the summer has gone by so fast.  There have been some changes to our classroom and you will notice these at Open House on Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 5-7 pm.  Most notably you will see that the whiteboard on the back wall has been moved getting ready for our smart-board.  I am so excited to share with all of you the awesome technology advances that we have made here at Meadowview.  We have also recievd 10 Ipods which we will be using right away with reading and making podcasts.  I have so much more to talk about and we will do so at Open House on Thursday.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow evening.
